Milwaukee's library makerspaces make a first creative experiment easier to start
Fall Open Maker Time connects four branches with facilitators, while equipment varies by location.

A creative idea often becomes clearer after a rough first version. Milwaukee Public Library's makerspaces offer a setting for that experiment, whether the starting point is a paper design, a short recording or a question about an unfamiliar tool.
For September 14–December 18, 2026, Open Maker Time runs at Good Hope, Mitchell Street, M.L. King and Washington Park. The published schedule is Monday–Tuesday, 3:30–7:30 p.m., and Wednesday–Thursday, 3:30–5:30 p.m. Facilitators and teen interns help visitors explore the spaces.
Equipment differs between branches. Mitchell Street lists a recording studio and community kitchen, while other locations have their own combinations of printing, design and media resources. Consult the equipment list for the branch you plan to visit; seeing a machine at one library does not establish its availability at another.
Appointments outside Open Maker Time can be requested through the library's makerspace contact. Bring one small goal and ask about materials and instruction before committing to a complex project. A first prototype that reveals what to revise can be a more useful result than rushing toward a polished object.
